Creamy Garlic Mashed Potatoes Recipe

  1. 1Place the potatoes in a large saucepan or pot. Add enough water to cover the tops of the potatoes. Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon salt to the water.
  2. 2Turn the burner on high and bring water to boiling. Reduce heat to medium low or low. Cover the pot with a lid. Cook the potatoes in gently boiling water until tender, about 15 minutes for cubed potatoes and new potatoes and 20 to 25 minutes for quartered potatoes.
  3. 3Drain the potatoes in a colander. Place potatoes back in saucepan and set aside.
  4. 4In a separate skillet on medium-low heat, add butter until melted.
  5. 5Add garlic and saut for 30 seconds until garlic begins to brown on edges.
  6. 6Add milk and stir until combined, heat until simmering. Remove from heat.
  7. 7Add creamy mixture to potatoes in saucepan and mash together. Add parmesan cheese and continue mashing until pot thickens. Let it stand for a few minutes and serve hot.
