Easy Homemade Chicken Wings Recipe
Originally published March 27, 2018 · Improv Oven
This easy homemade chicken wings recipe gives you perfectly crispy oven-baked wings without the mess of deep frying. Just 4 ingredients, 10 minutes of prep, and 50 minutes in the oven — then toss with your favorite Buffalo or BBQ sauce and dig in.
Ingredients
- 5 lbs chicken wings
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Your favorite wing sauce (Buffalo, BBQ, or plain)
Instructions
-
1Preheat oven to 400°F. Place wings, oil, salt, and pepper in a large bowl and toss together until evenly coated.
-
2Spread wings out in a single layer on a baking sheet. For extra crispiness, place wings on wire racks set over the baking sheet so air circulates underneath.
-
3Bake for 45–50 minutes until cooked through and the skin is crispy, turning the wings halfway through.
-
4Remove from oven and immediately toss with your favorite sauce — Buffalo, BBQ, or eat them plain.
-
5Serve with ranch or blue cheese for dipping. Best eaten hot.
💡 Improv Tip
The wire rack trick is the key to truly crispy wings without a deep fryer. Don't skip it — the air circulation underneath makes all the difference. If you don't have a rack, flip them twice instead of once.
